FACTS

Studies have shown the following benefits of gratitude writing - using an app, a journal, writing pages or letters (whether you send them or simply keep them to yourself):

  • Gratitude releases us from toxic emotions.  When people used fewer negative emotion words in their writings of gratitude, they were significantly more likely to report better mental health.

  • Gratitude helps even if you don't share it.

  • Impact on one's mental health takes time.  A positive shift was felt within four weeks, and increased with time.
